Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the GDPR.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this website is HikingFriends DK.
Registered company name and CVR number: [CLIENT TO SUPPLY]
Registered address: [CLIENT TO SUPPLY]
You can reach us at info@hikingfriends.dk or +45 30778851 with any question about your data.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the form on this site, we collect the name, email address, phone number (if you provide one), the trip you are asking about, and the content of your message.
We also measure how the site is used. Umami counts visits without cookies and without personal data. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity also collect usage data: pages viewed, device and browser type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and (Clarity) clicks and scrolling, with form fields hidden. The cookie policy lists the cookies. This site does not use advertising trackers, and it does not embed third-party social media scripts.
The interactive tools on this site (the packing checklist, the gear weight calculator and the fitness test) run entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent to us and are lost when you close the page.
Why, and on what legal basis
We use your enquiry details for one purpose: to answer your enquiry and, if you go on to book, to arrange your trip. The legal basis is your consent when you submit the form, and thereafter the performance of a contract if you book.
For Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity the legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Umami runs on our legitimate interest in counting visits, without cookies or personal data.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately ask us to.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after [CLIENT TO SUPPLY] months. Booking records are kept as long as Danish bookkeeping law requires, which is five years from the end of the financial year.
Who else sees it
To run your trip we share the details necessary for your booking with the refuges and guesthouses you will stay at. That is normally your name and the dates of your stay.
We also use service providers to host this website and deliver email. Current providers: [CLIENT TO SUPPLY].
Analytics providers: Umami, Google (Google Analytics 4) and Microsoft (Microsoft Clarity). Google and Microsoft may process data outside the EU, including in the USA. Their data processing agreements, the transfer basis and how long the data is kept: [CLIENT TO SUPPLY].
Your rights
You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Write to info@hikingfriends.dk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency, at datatilsynet.dk.
